How to Have Romance After Having Children

By Gary R. Hess. Category: Romance

Children are the scum of the Earth! They take away our money, our food, and even our love life. How dare they! Alright, so it's our fault. We should have used protection. It's too late now!

After having children, many believe that romance is a thing of the past. We don't know how to be alone or how to have a quiet night together. We make romance seem hopeless. It doesn't have to be that way. Romance can be had in many different ways. The most common is a moment alone under the stars or a romantic dinner. However, a night full of laughs and fun is something far overlooked but has major romance capabilities.

Night of Laughs

For a night of laughs, many places and things are possible. The most important is that everyone agrees on what to do, including, and maybe even most importantly, the children.

  1. Night at the circus.

Although the circus doesn't seem like a place where romance would happen, it certainly does. The circus is a place where the children would be amused and parents laugh and have fun. It's the perfect place to talk about when it's over and a great romance starter.

  2. Board Games.

Playing games together is a great way to get the whole family involved and have laughs.

  3. Sports.

This is the perfect way to get exercise and laugh together, as long as it's not too competitive. Bowling, miniature golf or just a game of hoops is a great way to have fun.

Night of Fun

This of course doesn't mean that the laughing won't be fun, nor does it mean that laughing won't be had at these wonderful places.

  1. Hiking.

It's the perfect way to get outdoors, exercise and have time to talk and be together as a family all while admiring the beauty of nature.

  2. Skiing.

This is a great way to have fun and be away from home for a while, as long as the children are old enough to participate.

  3. Camping.

Just like hiking, this is a great outdoors experience for all the family.

Other Ideas

Seeking fun outdoors or at the local movie theater might not be possible. If you have a small child, it can be darned near impossible to leave for more than an hour or two. Luckily, there are still a few ways to be romantic all while never leaving your home.

  1. Write romantic notes to one another and leave them in easy to find places. Lunch boxes, on the pillow, and in the dresser drawer are great examples.
  2. Recite a love poem. This might sound cheesy, but it works!
  3. Watch a movie together at home. This might sound obvious but many couples simply fail to do it. Tell the kids to go to bed early, stay in their rooms, or even go over to a friends house while you take care of the baby (if you have one). Spend the rest of the night talking, watching movies, and having wine together.

There are many ways to have romance after having children. These are simply a few to help you get started on the path back to lovey love.
